About Us

Emma Lawson - Executive Producer

Originally from County Durham, Emma began her career at L!ve TV. She has since banked over 20 years of extensive experience in both production and editorial development on award-winning television shows and has worked with some of the biggest names in comedy. Emma recently produced a new comedy series with BBC Studios for Apple TV+. Prior to that, she spent eight years working as an executive at Ash Atalla’s production company Roughcut TV overseeing their scripted output, including Cuckoo, People Just Do Nothing, Stath Lets Flats, Trollied, Hospital People, and Jerk. Emma is a passionate regional advocate, working tirelessly on inclusion and mentoring programmes, and energetically pushing for more TV production in the North that showcases its fantastic, fresh talent.

Lisa Laws - Project Manager

Lisa began her career as a Script Supervisor and Assistant Editor for Amber films, before working as freelance Assistant Director on TV dramas and feature films such as Elizabeth, The Four Feathers and The One and Only. Prior to joining the Hot House, Lisa had 10 years’ experience in a regional film and development agency doing a range of jobs including commissioning shorts and finding and developing new talent. She left to run the Northern Lights Film festival, giving international talent a platform to play. Working alongside Emma, Lisa now leads the development and delivery of the Hot House commissions.
