This intimate roundtable event with producer Jack Tarling will take place at Tyneside Cinema on Wednesday 23rd August, ahead of a Q&A screening of his keenly anticipated latest feature: GOD’S OWN COUNTRY. Hear first-hand about Jack’s journey from Northumbria University to scooping a raft of coveted prizes at Sundance, Berlin and Edinburgh.

The event will open up from an ‘in conversation’ format, addressing a range of topics key to producers and other filmmakers alike, including financing structures, casting, festival and post-theatrical strategy, building a slate, working with directors, and the work-life of a creative producer. The small group environment will allow us to open up discussion among those attending, so you have the chance to discuss your own projects with Jack directly.

A very limited number of places are available and attendance is strictly by application. To apply you must be a North East based filmmaker and must submit the following to applications@northernmedia.org:

  1. Your name
  2. Your job title/filmmaker role
  3. Your postcode
  4. A brief explanation of why you would benefit from attending (maximum 150 words)
  5. A hyperlink to one example of your films. Writers may attach a short writing sample instead (max. 10 pages).
  6. Confirmation that you work on filmmaking or other creative projects (excluding performance) for an average minimum of 21 hours per week, whether paid or unpaid.

Applications must be received by midday on Friday 18th August and you will be notified of the outcome of your application by 5pm the same day.

WHEN and WHERE: Wednesday 23rd August, 4.30 – 5.30pm, at Tyneside Cinema (Digital Lounge), 10 Pilgrim Street, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 6QG.

Thanks to the support of our funders there is no charge to attend. Please note that the offer of a place at the roundtable does not include a ticket for the screening of GOD’S OWN COUNTRY, which must be purchased separately.
