Northern Film & Media (NFM) have joined forces with award winning independent record label Bella Union (Beach House, Fleet Foxes, John Grant) and International arts and film curators Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival to launch a unique £4k commission to make the official music video for world renowned Radiohead drummer and solo recording artist Philip Selway’s new track ‘It Will End in Tears’.
Sound + Vision is the sixth edition of Northern Film and Media’s flagship, music and film project, previous artists include SBTRKT and Bill Ryder-Jones.
Sound + Vision: Northumberland will encourage creative collaborations through music and film by pairing a recognised UK music artist and a national film maker, working in the visually stunning landscapes of Northumberland.
NFM have teamed up with Philip Selway and record label Bella Union to provide this rare opportunity to work with one of the UK’s most respected creative artists. National filmmakers will produce a 1 - 2min DIY music video/ visual show reel inspired by the Selway’s current track ‘Coming up for Air’. 5 filmmakers will then be shortlisted and interviewed by a panel that will include NFM, Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival and Selway himself. One winning filmmaker will be awarded a production budget of £4k and will make the official music video for ‘It Will End in Tears’: the second track from Selway’s album ‘Weatherhouse’.
The winning candidate or company will be supplied with a budget of £4,000 to shoot the final music video in Northumberland using local crew and facilities.
The final product will be premiered at a final event on Saturday 20th September at Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival. The commissioned filmmmaker must be available to attend the premier event, transport and accomodation will be provided.
