The Owner – a feature film collaboration made by twenty-five directors on five different continents - will be premiered at Newcastle’s Tyneside Cinema on Friday 25 May.
The film, which was partly written, directed and shot in the North East, follows a mysterious backpack on a journey around the world back to its mystery owners. North East actors Daymon Britton and Louise Franklin star as psychopathic gangsters Bonnie and Clyde and takes in a variety of cultures as the narrative plot is revealed.
Writers and directors in locations such as Bangalore, Berlin, Detroit, Dubai, Mumbai, Sao Paulo, Ireland and Newcastle had the challenge of making the movie without having met each other. The film is set to break the world record for most directors, surpassing Paris je t’aime, which currently holds the Guinness World Record for the most directors in one film (21).
Conceived by Detroit-based directors Marty Shea and Ian Bonner, the film was also edited collaboratively online.
