Whorses - the latest feature in development from Newcastle-based Pinball Films - has been selected for the Les Arcs 1950 co-production meetings this December.
Whorses is one of just twenty-two projects to be selected for the prestigious co-production convention. The project has received development funding from Northern Film & Media.
Written by Sean Conway and produced by Pinball Films’ Ashley Horner, Whorses is described as “an urban fable of altered states, teenage lust and numbing, white knuckled terror.”
"Whorses is a supernatural romance that follows Lettice, a teenage shaman with a terrible secret, as he attempts to escape from Tin Town”, explains Horner.
“Held back by his dying father and burgeoning love for local beauty Lily, Lettice is haunted by a mythical beast that stalks the community. When Lettice believes the beast has taken Lily he has only one choice left to make in his short life. The beast must die.”
Conway is the writer behind brilliantlove, the Northern Film & Media funded provocative art house feature. brilliantlove premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was released by Soda Pictures in the UK last autumn.
“Attending Les Arcs Co Production Village will be a great opportunity to find further collaborators, distributors and financiers in order to move Whorses into production in 2012”, added Horner.
“Sean is a unique and exciting talent and the competition to earn a place at the meetings is fierce. It will be a great boost for the project."
