Congratulations to Newcastle-based producer Jack Tarling, who has been selected for a place on the prestigious SOS (Save Our Scripts) development programme run by producers’ collective The Bureau.
Jack is one of six emerging producers to have been selected to join upcoming writers and support development of their stories – now at treatment stage - with the aim of fast-tracking their own development experience while connecting with writers and writer-directors.
The selection reflects the Bureau’s intention of “connecting the writers with experienced professionals from diverse backgrounds, so that everyone will have the possibility of finding a working partner that best suits their aspirations for their film.” The producers will work with the writers, providing one-to-one feedback on at least two projects each.
With more than 20 shorts completed and a line production credit for Third Films on Duane Hopkins’ 'Bypass', Jack is currently co-producing his first feature: Hackney’s Finest, directed by Chris Bouchard. Currently in post for a 2014 release, Hackney's Finest is a dark, irreverent crime caper in which corrupt coppers, Welsh-Jamaican gangsters and Afghan smugglers run amok in Hackney. This is the feature debut by director Chris Bouchard, whose viral hit ‘The Hunt for Gollum’ has had more than 15 million views online. Jack's company, Shudder Flms, acted as co-producers for Rickety Shack and Gravity VFX company Framestore.
