National law firm Watson Burton has strengthened the media and entertainment component of its commercial service offering with the appointment of solicitor Amy Hamilton, based in the company’s Newcastle office.

Amy is highly skilled in advising on matters concerning intellectual property and data protection. She has particular expertise in acting for businesses and professionals operating within the media and entertainment industry, providing advice on protection and licensing of intellectual property, as well as drafting agreements associated with the production of audio-visual, musical, literary and artistic works.

In recent years Amy has practised in Italy, where she has advised clients ranging from established television and film production businesses to music industry professionals, energy and technology companies.

Having returned to the North East, Amy has joined Watson Burton’s growing regional commercial team where she will work alongside the existing teams in Leeds and London to push forward the commercial service to clients nationally.

Amy said: “I am very pleased to be back in the North East and am looking forward to playing my part in helping the team grow.” Sam Jardine, Partner and Head of commercial at Watson Burton, said: “Amy’s appointment is a significant part of the firm’s plan to grow our corporate and commercial team nationally. Her wealth of knowledge and impressive track record will make a great addition to our team and we are extremely pleased to welcome her to the firm.”
