Northern Film & Media chief executive Tom Harvey will become a Member of the British Empire (MBE) for services to the creative industries.
“I am hugely honoured,” said Tom, who learned that he would become an MBE in the New Year’s Honours list.
“The North East creative industries have grown significantly in the last few years and I, and everyone at NFM, are proud of our role in that journey.”
Tom has been chief executive of Northern Film & Media since its launch in 2002. The agency has leveraged more than £80 million of investment into the North East creative economy and Tom was instrumental in establishing a £2.4 million public-VC investment fund with Northstar Ventures.
Tom previously ran the Edinburgh International Television Festival and worked in senior management at the BBC. He also was managing director of online interactive entertainment indie XPT where he won a BAFTA for the innovative interactive drama Online Caroline in 2000 before overseeing the sale of the company to Freeserve.
