International Film Markets Workshop

Intended primarily for newer producers who want to learn more about film markets and the business of connecting with financiers - but also open to more established filmmakers who want to network and share experience - the workshop will feature an overview of film markets, two producer case studies and a chance to put your questions. Thanks to Digital Union there will be will be a drink on registration and after the main part of the event an informal networking buffet.

Chaired by Mary Davies, UK Project Co-Director of Cross Channel Film Lab and Industry Consultant at International Film Festival Rotterdam, who brings a wealth of experience from her time at BFI London Film Festival and Edinburgh International Film Festival, the evening will address questions including:

  • What goes on in film markets and how do they work?
  • How do you get the meetings you want?
  • How do you follow up and keep initial contacts going?
  • Building new film financing relationships: public versus private funds
  • What stage does your project need to be at to attend a film market?
  • What are the differences between project markets and a conventional film market?

Experienced producer Samm Haillay (Third Films) and first-time market attendee Pascal Fintoni will workshop their recent personal experiences of American Film Market, Torino Film Lab, and Les Arcs Film Market, illuminating the differences between European and US markets, and between project markets and conventional film markets, as well as sharing their personal insights and tips.
