25 young people will have the chance to learn from award-winning British directors and gain tips on developing their filmmaking careers through a new Directors UK and Second Light three day course in Leeds in September.
The Directors LAB will provide 25 young people aged between 16-25 with the opportunity to learn all about the role and work of a director through all stages of film production from development and pre-production, production and post-production. Participants will learn about the directors vision, working with crews, DOP’s, actors and editors. It will also offer practical advice on how to build a career as a director.
Through a series of sessions from guest speakers including directors, editors, DOPs and actors; using exercises, case studies, project work, discussions and practical exercises participants will spend three days getting to grips with just what it takes to be a director.
“It’s so important for young film makers to have the opportunity to learn from established directors about the craft of directing and just what it takes to make it in the world of film and television. It’s great to be able to give something back to the next generation of filmmakers,” said award-winning Directors UK Board Member Beryl Richards.
The deadline for submissions is Sunday 5 August. Click here for more information and to apply.
