'Directors and...' - new classes announced with Gillies MacKinnon, Willy Wands, Roger Simonsz and Sue Gibson BSC

Posted: 12th January 2016

Run by Northern Film & Media and Creative Skillset, “Directors and..” is a series of half day sessions aimed primarily at early career TV and film directors.

Led by practitioners, the series is designed to help prepare delegates to take their careers to the next professional level by improving their understanding of how directors work successfully with and get the best out of HoDs, actors and other key colleagues.

Each session features a pairing (or grouping) of a director and key colleagues who have worked together successfully. Roles covered will be drawn from the following: producer; PM/line producer; actor; and DOP. Spotlighted subjects will include how the roles interact and the dos and don’ts of how to manage that relationship. As far as possible all classes will involve practical and interactive elements to allow delegates to apply and test their learning.

“Directors and…”will provide an invaluable introduction to what you need to know as a director to ensure that these absolutely keys relationships work fruitfully at an advanced professional level.
