Commissioning Session with Jane Rogerson (UKTV) and Mark Adderley (Dog House Media)

Posted: 15th February 2012

Jane Rogerson, Director of Commissioning at UKTV, will be speaking at the latest NFM Commissioning Session, to be held on Friday 17 Feb. She will be joined by Mark Adderley, founder of Dog House Media, to discuss in detail two projects the pair have worked on: Jo Brand's Big Splash (Dave) and the forthcoming Kitchen SOS (Home), offering you the chance to hear from both commissioner and commissionee.

Rogerson is responsible for commissioning strategy across UKTV’s entertainment and factual entertainment channels – a roster which includes Dave, Yesterday, Watch,  G.O.L.D., Good Food and Home. Noted for commissioning zeitgeisty, agenda-setting shows produced with innovative business models, Rogerson’s credits at UKTV include: the hugely successful Dynamo: Magician Impossible for Watch; Find My Past UKTV’s first product placement deal and the first of its kind in the UK for a factual programme; Jo Brand’s Big Splash for Dave; Choccywoccydoodah for Good Food and Fry and Laurie: Reunited winner of Best Multichannel Programme Broadcasting Press Guild Awards for G.O.L.D. Before joining UKTV in 2007 she was Controller of Features ITV, and worked previously at Mentorn (Bodyshock) and BBC current affairs (Newsnight).

Adderley started as a self shooting Video Journalist (Media & Arts Correspondent) for the Daily Mail's TV venture Channel One back in 1994. From Robot Wars to DIY SOS, from fly on the wall access documentaries to MTV style fashion shows, from archive-driven biographies to one month races to the North Pole - Mark has worked across all genres. In 2007 Mark formally launched Dog House Media, launching with the first of 4 series of Nigel Slater's A Taste of My Life for BBC2. A total of 31 episodes followed. Mark has since originated and developed all of Dog House's productions old and new - devising A Taste of My Life, moving on to the food challenge travelogue series Eating in the Sun for BBC1, a history series for Channel 5 called County Secrets, a 5 part stand up comedy/documentary hybrid called Jo Brand's Big Splash for the Dave Channel, and currently producing a new 20 part Design Series for UKTV Home. He is also kicking off pre-production on a new BBC4 Documentary with cookery writer Nigel Slater.

As well as case studies on Jo Brand’s Big Splash and Kitchen SOS, Rogerson and Adderley will be sharing advice on the current Factual, Fact-Ent, Lifestyle and Comedy commissioning landscape from both commissioner and commissionee’s perspectives. Rogerson will also a key player’s insights into a range of issues including:
