The second iteration of Northern Film & Media's FILM CLUB strand for artist filmmakers launches with an event curated by Giles Bailey & CIRCA Projects, held in partnership with Berwick Film & Media Art Festival (BFMAF).
World is Sudden: Part 1 with guests Eleanor Wright, Kathryn Elkin, Rene McBrearty, Susie Green & Simon Bayliss, Terry plus video footage excerpts.
Inspired by the collateral, incompatible and sudden world described in Louis MacNeice’s 1935 poem 'Snow', this event combines performance, music, sound, moving image, internet video phenomena and archival material. Staged in a custom-made set, artworks are presented in a continuous flow resisting the tyranny of prescribed thematics, embracing “the drunkenness of things being various,” however modestly.
The Q&A for this event will take the form of a performance by Kathryn Elkin, drawing on the format of Michael Parkinson's notorious 1975 interview with Helen Mirren interview and including an audience participation dynamic.
Where: The Palace Green Pavilion, Berwick, TD15 1HN
When: Saturday 24th September, 9.30pm-11.30pm
Places will be available on a coach organised by CIRCA Projects to take attendees from Newcastle to Berwick and back for the day. In order to allow people to experience a whole day of BFMAF the coach will leave mid-morning from Newcastle Central Station, returning after the conclusion of this Film Club event and arriving back into Newcastle at 1am. Coach tickets are priced £5. For further details please email the organisers. BFMAF runs from 21-25 September; passes are available for 1, 3 or 5 days and are on sale here.
