This roundtable event with Ben Wheatley will offer a rare opportunity to hear from and talk to one of British film's most exciting creative talents in a small group setting.
Hosted jointly with Tyneside Cinema ahead of their Q&A screening of FREE FIRE on 1st March, the event will open up from an ‘in conversation’ format, addressing Ben’s creative practice, career journey and his views of the filmmaking landscape in the UK, to a wider discussion – offering you the opportunity to put questions relevant to your own work.

About Ben Wheatley
Director Ben Wheatley began his career as a short film maker and animator, initially showcasing his work on the internet. Progressing via work in advertising to directing the live-action sections Channel 4’s much loved MODERN TOSS, Wheatley made his first feature, DOWN TERRACE, in 2009, followed by KILL LIST, made for Warp X in 2010. Wheatley's third film was the black comedy SIGHTSEERS. Released in the UK in 2012, the film was chosen for the Directors' Fortnight section of the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. Wheatley's fourth feature, A FIELD IN ENGLAND, was financed through the Film4 talent and ideas hub, Film4.0, and was followed in 2016 by HIGH RISE – an adaptation of the J.G. Ballard novel of the same name. A sci-fi TV series, SILK ROAD, written and directed by Wheatley, has been announced, and will be screened on HBO. FREE FIRE, Ben Wheatley’s six feature film, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2016. Starring Brie Larson and Cillian Murphy, the BFI and Film 4 backed feature will be released in the UK in March 2017.
