Wendall Thomas on 'Bridesmaids: Anatomy of a Hit'

Celebrated film lecturer, casting director and writer Wendall Thomas will bring her 25 years of Los Angeles-based industry experience to a day-long masterclass in Newcastle on 10 December.

‘Bridesmaids: Anatomy of a hit’ will examine the 2011 summer phenomenon scene-by-scene, looking closely the special alchemy of plot dynamics, characterisations, scene structure, dialogue, tone, pacing and marketing which have made this a genuine 300 million dollar hit.

As Wendall breaks the film down, she will look in detail at issues including dealing with multiple characters, structuring comic set pieces that build, developing satisfying comic character arcs and writing “chick flicks” that defy gender lines.

The workshop will include an extensive script breakdown, with plenty of time for discussion.
