In partnership with LUX and the NewBridge Project, Northern Film & Media have spaces for five artists with a moving image practice to attend a one-on-one advice session. These are for artists based in the North East region, who are no longer in full-time education.
These are informal sessions with LUX staff aimed at developing a wide ranging dialogue around your practice and can involve any or all of the following areas:
- Looking at and discussing your work
- Advice on developing your practice and looking at other works that may be interesting in relation to this
- Advice on exhibition possibilities, appropriate organisations and events to approach
- Self-promotion advice
- Funding advice
- Production advice
In order to apply for a session, please send a current CV, plus 300 word description on why the session would be useful to firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for submission of applications is midday on Wed 08 January.
When: Friday 17 January. Artists will be assigned an hour’s session to start between between 10am & 3pm. Please let us know when applying if there is any time you cannot attend.
Where: The NewBridge Project, 12 Newbridge Street West, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, NE1 8AW
Sessions last for one hour, you are welcomed to bring work to look at on DVD (although we would advise to not bring too much) plus written material such as practice descriptions. If you do want to show work from DVD you will need to bring a laptop or other screening device with you. Should you have any questions about this please contact Lauren Healey at NFM.
Thanks for our funders there is no charge for attending one of these sessions. Artist advice sessions are supported by ERDF and Arts Council England through Grants for the Arts.
