Introduction to Screenwriting, with Gavin Williams (06 August onwards)

Using clips, discussion, and writing exercises, award-winning writer-director Gavin Williams will take you through the first steps of constructing a film screenplay. Topics in this five week course will include narrative structure, characterisation, and tips on writing genre films, such as action, comedy, science fiction.

The course is intended for aspiring writers and film lovers alike, but all experience levels are welcome.

When: Thursday 06 August, and for four weeks thereafter; 6pm – 8pm

Venue: Jesmond Library, St George’s Terrace, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE2 2DL

Cost: £45 (fee payable at first session by cash or cheque)

About Gavin Williams

Gavin has been commissioned by Yorkshire TV, Channel 5, Carlton, Penguin, Corgi and Lego. His latest short film, 'Sleepworking', funded through Northern Film & Media’s ‘Shorted’ initiative, has won eight awards and played at forty-seven international film festivals. He has taught at Northumbria University.
