From Billy Elliot to Bond: Location, Location, Location…

From James Bond and Billy Elliot to Trainspotting and Wolfblood, discover the secrets of television and film location managers at an event hosted by Northern Film & Media and the Royal Television Society in Newcastle on Wed 27 November.

The event brings together three of the UK’s top location professionals to reveal the stories behind the filming of productions including Skyfall and Vera. Joining us to celebrate and shed light on the vital but often underappreciated role of location management will be:

  • Mally Chung (Atonement, Dracula, Skyfall)
  • Christine Llewelyn-Reeve (Billy Elliot, At Home With the Braithwaites)
  • Gareth Williams (Wire in the Blood, Wolfblood, Dumping Ground)

(Unfortunately Andrew Bainbridge has had to withdraw from this event due to unforeseen work commitments.)

Covering film, television and commercials, from zero budget to Hollywood and all points in between, 'From Billy Elliot to Bond' will combine case studies, a panel discussion and audience Q&A. It will offer you a chance to ask your questions, share experience and gain insights and tips from leading practitioners on all the key locations questions, including:

  • What location managers actually do
  • How to identify the right locations
  • How to make your budget work
  • Working in difficult locations
  • Routes into the industry and roles available

Whether you’re starting out and trying to work out how locations fit into your production, a location manager interested in working in a different part of the industry, a student wondering whether this could be the career for you, or a film and TV lover wanting to reminisce about some of the region’s most loved productions, this is an event which no one with an interest in locations can afford to miss.

When: Wednesday 27 November, 6.30pm – 8.30pm (doors: 6:00pm)
