Producer Samm Haillay will lead a round table session giving an overview of current film industry trends. He will cover who the major players in UK and internationally are, finance and networking strategies, and film festivals and markets (which ones to attend and why). He will also talk about his work with artists, and the cross over between artist film and traditional film production.
Samm founded independent production company Third with Duane Hopkins in 2001. He produced Hopkins’ multi-award-winning short films and his feature debut Better Things, which premiered to critical acclaim at International Critics Week, Cannes in 2008. Samm also produced Hopkins’ Bypass, which is currently in post-production, as well as the multi-channel film installations series Sunday, which played at BALTIC. In 2010 he co-produced Turner Prize winning artist Gillian Wearing’s feature debut Self Made. He is also producing for Mark Cousins, Esther May Campbell, and Institute for Eyes.
This session is aimed at artists working within moving image as well as independent writers, directors and producers.
