‘Building a Creative Business’ is a 2 day workshop run by Northern Film & Media in conjunction with Transmit Consulting and the Government’s Start-Up Loans.
The workshop is aimed at people who are considering setting up a business within the creative sector, or have done so within the last year or so.
You may be a budding film-maker, script writer, animator, artist, author, photographer or designer and are wondering how you can turn your creative passion into cash!
During the 2 days we will be covering all aspects of getting set up, surviving the first year (always the most difficult time!) and then going on to expand. A detailed schedule can be downloaded below, but topics covered will include:
• Starting up• Business planning• Sales and marketing• Business survival• Finance• Digital sales and marketing• Start-Up Loans
We will be joined by two CEOs from creative sector who will each deliver a section of one of the days sharing their first-hand experience of running successful companies.
The sessions will be friendly and interactive, so you can ask as many questions as you like, and they will provide a great opportunity to chat to other like-minded people (business isn’t about what you know but who you know!). A maximum of 15 places are available on this course, allowing you to receive close attention from the tutors.
There will be time in both sessions to discuss how to access finance for your business with emphasis on the Government’s new Start-Up Loans programme, delivered nationally by Transmit Start-Ups. Please note that Start-Up Loans are only available to people ages 18-30, living in England, with a business that is less than 1 year old. (See PDF below for more information.)
When: Thursday 06 and Fri 07 June, 10am – 5pm
Where: BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art (Level 3 meeting room), Gateshead Quays, South Shore Road, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, NE8 3BA.

You are still encouraged to express your interest in the workshop even if you do not meet all of these criteria.
